Green
Building
It’s our commitment to high standards and responsible building
that led us to become Guilford County’s first NAHB Certified Green
Professionals. While not everything we build is green, we realize that
our resources are limited. As Christians & parents we feel it is
our responsibility through stewardship to leave a better world for our
children. By using age-old building practices as well as the latest
building methods, we are able to build to all shades of green.
What is Green Building?
Green Building is more than just a checklist. It’s a whole building
approach that uses quality building practices that promote sustainability
to make a home/building healthier and more efficient.
Why Build Green?
Green Homes are Healthier, Green builders reduce pollutants in your
home by using products with low V.O.C. s (volatile organic compounds),
such as paint, cabinets, & carpets. In addition, green builders
utilize superior designed HVAC systems and sealed or closed crawl spaces
to reduce mold, all of which gives your family cleaner air and improving
the overall livability of your home. With superior indoor air quality,
green homes provide a healthier living environment for you and your
family.
Green
Homes are More Comfortable
The alternative framing techniques (in-line framing, SIPs (Structurally
Insulated Panels), ICFs (Insulated Concrete Forms)) and higher r-value
insulation used in green homes produce consistent temperatures and create
a quieter, more peaceful environment for your home.
Green Homes Save You Money
Green homes implement greater water efficiency by using tankless water
heaters and low-flow toilets and shower heads. Low E windows, better
HVAC systems & insulation, and house orientation (passive solar
design) are all green components that save energy. Green homes cost
less to heat, cool and maintain, saving you thousands of dollars throughout
the life of your home.
Green Homes Are Better for our Environment
You can take pride in knowing that your home has a positive impact on
the environment. By using such techniques as alternative framing, a
significant amount of waste is reduced. Recycled products & composite
materials (for example EWPs (Engineered Wood Products), MDF trim, cement
board (Hardie Plank), carpet, etc.) use less of our natural resources.
Built for more energy and water efficiency, and designed to be sustainable,
green homes are built with the environment in mind.
