Below are some frequently asked questions about the remodeling process.
How much will my project cost?
Many people think building a new home and adding a new room to an existing home is about the same, so the cost per square foot should be about the same. This perception is wrong. Though concrete, wood, and nails are used on both projects, the similarity stops there.

How long will the project take?
It depends. Smaller projects can be completed in a few short days, whereas larger remodels and additions take much longer. Before we begin any job, we give the homeowner a detailed schedule outlining how the work will progress. If delays occur, we keep the homeowner informed & up to date.
Will my home become a disaster during the remodeling process?
Remodeling causes a great deal of disruptions, however we go to great lengths to minimalize the impact on the rest of your home. We clean the site daily as well as lay protection down to preserve your floors. We also create barriers to contain dust & debris. Your home is special and we will treat it with the care that it deserves.
I don’t have any plans for my addition. Do we need them for the project?
We recommend it. Having scaled plans on paper helps you visualize how your ideas will translate in reality. We create plans with
multiple options for our clients to point out potential ways to improve the layout. It’s much easier to nail down the specifics of your project before construction begins. Costs can add up quickly if you proceed without a plan & the only way to make changes is to literally move walls!
My last contractor charged me a lot of “add-ons”; how can I avoid this & get the true cost upfront?
Beware of vague proposals & contracts. Make sure that your contract lists all work to be performed. We work diligently to give our clients detailed proposals & contracts to ensure that all costs are included. Also, ask for references.
I want to save money so should I hire the contractor with the cheapest price?
Many times when one contractor has a much cheaper quote, it is because they have left something out of their price. Some even use a “hook & switch” strategy where they hook customers with a low initial price & then after the project has started begin adding costs to the job. They also can supply you with a product that isn’t what you are paying for (i.e. an Energy Star rated window instead of an energy tax credit rated window. It does matter if the IRS audits you.)
Your company is licensed & insured; why does that matter?
By being licensed, we agree to uphold the building guidelines set up by the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors. This protects the client. The Licensing Board also has a recovery (financial) fund for clients if things should go bad. However it’s only accessible to persons that use a recognized contractor. When we build or remodel a home, we always meet or exceed the building code requirements. In addition, we are fully insured for general liability & worker’s comp. This protects you & your home in the unlikely event of an accident or if someone gets hurt while working at your home. We carry insurance to cover the costs.
Can you help me with financing?
We have several relationships with lending companies that offer exceptional rates & can assist you in getting the financing you need.
